I'm using deluge-console as the deluge-gtk does not handle 1700 torrents for more than a few minutes before locking up. I like the idea of a well designed console app anyway. Is it the gtk client or the daemon using the memory? I have about 1,700 torrents running and deluge itself is only using 2.3% of my RAM so that's about 368MB used. If I attempt to run the gtk client however things are not so pretty and it just locks up within a few minutes. You may want to try using...

The most common cause of this problem I've been able to figure out so far is this scenario: Torrent 1: Ubuntu 10.10 Torrent 2: Ubuntu 10.04 both iso images are in a directory named ubuntu. It takes my computer over a day when it wants to do a full check. All my torrents are stored on a ZFS server, they are check-summed at the raid/filesystem level already.

I see this every day on Debian AMD64
