I can't confirm this on my machine. I'm using 1.0.0 and I get full DL speeds as long as the swarm permits it. No problem at all. Works just as with all the other versions before. I get my ~600K/s as long as there are enough peers.

I was maybe a bit premature and overenthusiastic with my previous post. I certainly can max out my connection with Deluge 1.0, but it takes a considerably healthier torrent than it does with the 0.5 series. Most torrents still download quite a bit slower in the new client.

Still no answer to this problem of performance ... Or even recognition that there may be a problem!

I admit that I am quite disappointed.

Deluge was one of the best bittorrent software. It is (almost) become worse. I hope it will not last.

I'm also having this problem with 1.0.0. Speeds are terrible. I tried the suggestion of limiting connections to 150 overall and 50 on invididual torrents. At first that seemed to solve the problem. But the next time I used Deluge the speeds went back to being terrible and I couldn't solve the problem. I wasn't getting anything better than 10KBps. So I reverted to 0.5.9.3, the most recent version in the Debian repositories, and now everything is fine and Deluge works great again.

As an aside, I don't really care about the upgrades to the Deluge interface either. To me, they make in more complicated and confusing and less consistent with Gnome. Also why was the configuration wizard gotten rid of? That was useful to me. Maybe there are other under the hood improvements in 1.0.0, but the bottom line is, if it doesn't work hardly, then what's the point?

Still, I love the Deluge project, so I hope the speed problem gets ironed out.

Yes another confirmation of this. Same torrent with the same settings on 5.9.x is considerably (in the region of 400%) faster than 1.0. I can max out my connection (600kbs) on 1.0 but it needs a torrent with a huge number of seeds and little or no leechers. Any word from the developers on this issue? It's seems like a pretty huge problem!

Try setting max_connections per second to 20 instead of -1.

So, you would recommend it set at 20? Mine has been set at 8 this whole time and I hadn't noticed download slowness.

No, made no discernible difference.

Try these settings:

max connections: 200
max upload slots: 4
max connections per second: 20

if you are on windows xp:
max half open connections: 8

if you are on windows vista:
max half open connections: 4

Set your max upload speed to 80% of your upstream max.

you can actually get a patch that removes the half-open tcp connections restriction on windows.
as for linux (or a patched windows), what would you recommend for the number of half-open connections?

also, has any progress been done on the setting wizard yet?
I believe this would probably fix the majority of slow downloading due to not properly configured settings.
