Bind to interface IP

Post by ORC »

It will be nice to bind deluge to single IP... On my system i have 3 ip`s at same time, and i need only 1 to be published on tracker... Without that only outgoing connections are possible...

Hi

cool, that's exactly for the same idea I came to this forum !

==> As a matter of fact, if it could be possible, I would love the ability to specify
the IP to bind to on a global level, and also on a per .torrent level
.

I have two Internet lines, one ADSL that is very fast on download but poor on upload,
and one SDSL, old but quite fast, and with decent upload (Synchronous DSL =>
upload == download)

The Idea is to be able to put private torrents on my SDSL, for which private trackers
ask for a good ratio maintained.
For now I was putting those torrents on another machine under XP/utorrent.

I have just tested on my linux/deluge box, to add a static IP route to the
tracker of a finished private torrent via the SDSL Interface, for the tracker to
see the address I want to use, and announce it to clients.
Seems to be working, though it would be annoying to do that operation on
a bigger scale.

==> In the same spirit, that would be cool to be able to tell Deluge, after
one specific torrent is finished, to switch automatically the IP on which that
torrent is bound to, so it can be seeded at optimal speed on the line you chose
.

(Though I don't know if it's important to keep the same IP when talking to a public
tracker. If you come back to seed under another IP, will the community think that
you did a hit and run ?)

Thanks for your help, and congratulations for Deluge, it is great (can't wait
for the daemon version)

regards
R.
