uTorrent gains popularity Azureus loses - Torrent Freak

There seem to be a few comments about Deluge. I think that Deluge is as good as uTorrent, there are just a few minor usablility issues which I have already reported. Related to ratios, bandwidth limits and move torrent functionality with ratios.

But those are minor issues, it's more important that the core (libtorrent) is working properly.

uTorrent, of course, is great, I've used it with wine :) because I used it a lot in Windows, and couldn't find any decent alternative in Linux, until I found Deluge. For me, Deluge in Linux is like uTorrent in Windows ;)

I used uTorrent with Wine too. Until I lost it's UI somehow. So UI was outside desktop, and I didn't know how to recover it. Show / Hide from tray icon didn't help. ;(

But at that point uTorrent was only application which I were using with Wine, so it was quite clear that I need to look for proper native bittorrent client and then I found Deluge.

Deluge feels like an application that is on the brink of greatness. There are still a number of small problems here and there, but the dev team are active and very helpful and seem to be working hard to fix every problem.

With a few more updates I am sure that deluge will reach the tipping point and numbers of users will sky rocket.

That is what I especially like about Deluge. I work in software development, planning and testing. And I way often see programs that have severe usability issues which render program unusable. Even those problems are in programming terms very small and quick to fix.

And that's what annoys me most. ;) Especially when working on field. Why I need to spent 5 hours / week fixing some problems caused by bugs when it would take coder only 15 minutes to get rid of that bug causing those problems. (I know it's not exactly as direct with open source, but with commercial products this it's really unbearable!)

After using linux programs. I found out that almost all projects are kind of unfinished, core functionality exists but there isn't any finishing touch. (And now I'm talking in general terms, not about Deluge which is quite straight forward.) I also know that getting core functionality to work might only be 10% of actual programming work, finishing touch might be 90% of work.

I have watched several OS projects from start. Like eMule and gnunet and eMule is "finished" prodcut, but gnunet only got core functionality, and even major important parts of that are missing or not working properly.
