I'm very sorry to those of you who took part in my first posting about this...we quickly realized that we had a problem with ubuntu and debian files having the same name, so we had to rename the actual files, change our download links, and recreate the torrent files to deal with it. Again, I'm sorry, but we're learning, and things should work out now
For those who didn't see the first posting, in October our bandwidth usage was nearly 600GB, so we're trying to cut down on that by using bittorrent. If you can seed, please do so. We greatly appreciate it. Thanks all

Using BitTorrent for Deluge - Part 2
Re: Using BitTorrent for Deluge - Part 2
BitTorrent is a bit of a pain for such small files. How about Coral CDN?markybob wrote:For those who didn't see the first posting, in October our bandwidth usage was nearly 600GB, so we're trying to cut down on that by using bittorrent. Re: Using BitTorrent for Deluge - Part 2
Or put all files (all ports) in one torrent per version...
Re: Using BitTorrent for Deluge - Part 2
I like the idea of using torrents to download deluge.
It might not be the best way to distribute 2MB files for any application, but deluge is a bittorrent application.
And future uses like automatic download of updates, plugin downloads etc could be easily integrated using bittorrent.

Using torrent to distribute files is good idea. (IMHO) Even file is 2 meg file, if you get huge number of hits it might bring down even bigger sites. This have been seen several times.
Sites get slashdotted even if they contain 200 kb of stuff / page.
Before Torrent time, it was fun to see all download sites go unreachable when 3dmark03 was released. Suddenly there were a huge crowd of people wanting to download that 180 megabyte file. And if you were lucky enough to find working site download rate was something like 3-5 KiB/s which is really nice when you're waiting to get that 180 megabyte file.
With stuff like Deluge site should run tracker and also seed all files. It should also drop sites bandwidth requirement a lot. Often getting bandwidth (cheaply enough) is a problem.
Always offer updates etc using torrent instead of direct http download (which should be optional, but not recommended, in case someone doesn't have a working torrent client).
Coral Offers poor performance. For torrent site using torrent is very natural. If were talking about something serious there is always Akamai, but it's just matter of cost. Which is often way too big.
Now I'm seeding all platforms / 5.7.1 version until next one is released.

Perhaps using a bold or larger text to emphasize the torrent file would help:
deluge-0.5.7.1.tar.gz.torrent
deluge-0.5.7.1.tar.gz
deluge-0.5.7.1.tar.gz.torrent
deluge-0.5.7.1.tar.gz

Excellent idea, I'll be happy to offer some of my bandwidth for this. However, the above download links require a lot of clicking (and I'm lazy by nature ). Any chance of getting a list of direct download locations for the torrents, that we could just feed to wget?
*edit* in fact, when I click any link in the above list, and also from the Download page at the top, I get this error:

./ubuntu/feisty/0.5.7.1/deluge-torrent_0.5.7.1-1_i386.feisty.deb is already defined.
