Stange upload behaviour

Post by jeps »

I give up :)

I am running Deluge as a thin client on my Synology NAS (DS1815+)
The download is absolutely stunning but the upload is kind of strange, please see the attached picture.

For some reason, in a 3 minutes cycle, it starts uploading, does that a little time and then drops the connection
(the transfer stops and then the connection gets dropped).
The upload speeds seems okay. I would guess.

I run a very smal number of torrents and therefor also a very smal number of connections.
(So it is not my router acting up)

Have any of you seen something like this and what would you recommend.
I believe it is moste UTP connections, that are behaving like this.
(but in Deluge you have no way og knowing the protocol.)

Hi,

Does the graph represents both UP/DL ? I see 2 curves and I guess you're very lucky if the UP speed is >6MiB/s :).
Can you please try to limit the DL speed to for example 2 MB/s on a 24h period to see the difference?

Yes, I am lucky (when it comes to internetspeed).
I have a 300/300 Mbs fiber.
I have limited my bandwith in Deluge to 15/15 MB though, so that the rest of the family can stream and have a good internetspeed too.
The download in the above example is like 20 KB/sec., so I don't think it influences anything.

I have since tried to disable both in- and outgoing utp and that seems to stabilize the speed.
The connections are now stable for a long period of time.
It is of cause difficult to tell, when it comes to upload.
A lot of the result depends on the receiving end, but I try a little longer with TCP only, and see how it goes.
I will return med the result.

Although you can disable uTP and with it, utp connections, it should not be an issue. Except perhaps, if you are using some weird package.
Where did you install deluge from? What version?
Since you disabled uTP, you are using ltConfig, right? What version of libtorrent is it reporting?

Weird package - maybe.
As I wrote earlier, I am using Deluge as a thin client on a Synology NAS (DS1815+).
Someone in the Synology community build the package to run in the (limited) Linux version that the NAS is using.
It states to be Deluge version 1.3.15

ItConfig says Libtorrent version: 1.0.11.0

After much google'ing I have concluded, that utp has some frauds in highspeed setups.
The behavior I have observed is similar to other libtorrent (based) clients have experienced.

I think I'll just continue with upt disabled for now, it is not that bad.
Maybe there will be a Deluge version 2.0 tomorrow, who knows ;-)
