Setup for email notifications

Post by rogierius »

Hi there,

I was struggling to setup the email notifications. I'm a noob, so it took me some time to figure it out. I hope this little tutorial helps others to set their email notification system up.

I use Gmail for sending, so I googled what settings I should use. Found this link:

So your settings should look like this:
  • Hostname: google your SMTP settings of your email provider
    Port: the recommended port
    Password: your password
    Username: your complete email address
From: whatever you want as a name or address
Image

And then you need to add the email address to where the notification is going to be send:

And presto, your done.

To test it, use this tiny torrent.

Whenever I press 'Apply' the port resets to 25 and the recipients disappear.

I'm using Deluge 1.3.11 on Windows 8.1

A workaround is to hold down the ^ button until you reach the port. It can be tricky, I wasn't able to click it, so you've got to release the mouse at the right time.

Holy crap, how is this still a thing over a year later?

This bug is ridiculous and virtually renders this feature useless, especially in 2016 where virtually all email requires TLS.

The fact that this bug, along with the corresponding bug of not being able to single-click on the arrows to advance one by one remains unfixed over a year after being submitted just blows my mind.

Also you can use WebUI to set it up.

You have to press the enter key after you enter the recipient information. Otherwise the information is not committed to the field, and reverts to a blank state when applied/saved.

This was fixed in recent release and will be in changelog.

I got it set up nicely...
Remember to stop the daemon, then restart and connect. I tested a small 16MB torrent (don't worry about testing the same torrent more than once) and finally got emails to all the listed accounts.

No problem setting it up to send from your Gmail to your Gmail... now my Missus knows when her favourite show arrives so I'm very happy.
