Deluge crashes after few minutes

Post by joshbgosh »

New user switching from uTorrent because of their massive amount of bugs, and trackers starting to block them.
I have high hopes for Deluge, but it won't keep running for more than about 5 minutes, which obviously is not a good thing.
I did install the Visual C++ as noted in the download section, but that didn't change anything.
Any ideas?

I had the same issue, when I was using Windows server 2008 r2.

Try to use the Python 2.7 version.
You can find it here:
http://download.deluge-torrent.org/windows/py2.7/

It solved my problem.

Tried using @jeps solution...got better but not much better. Still crashing to the point of making me consider not using it.

You can see this problem on Google going back to 2008
I have 2 machines which run deluge 1.3.6
As we speak
PC1 3GB of RAM. XP with service pack 3 Pagefile set @ 4GB Deluge 1.3.6 running using 75Mb of RAM + 150Mb of Virtual seeding about 450 torrents No problem whatsoever. Stable. Torrent activity - small.
PC2 3GB of RAM. XP with service pack 3 Pagefile set @ 4GB
Now loading Deluge 1.3.6 with just 51 torrents Ram 35Mb Vrtual 186MB on start up. Seeding activity 1 seeding at 350kb
After 2 minutes Ram 43MB Virtual 370Mb Still only 1 leecher @ 386kb
After 4 minutes Ram 46Mb Virtual 464Mb Still only 1 leecher @ 350kb
After 6 minutes Ram 38Mb Virtual 550Mb Still only 1 leecher @ 412kb
After 9 minutes Ram 60Mb Virtual 775Mb Still only 1 leecher @ 333kb
Virtual Mem now @ 850Mb AND CONTINUPOSLY GROWING AND GROWING.
Just amatter of time before it will crash with C++ error which I presume is familiar to many who have this problem. I have now shutdown Deluge before the inevitable.
Q1 Why is the pageing file growing and growing with now extra activity since startup of Deluge with 1 leecher. P/File now @ 950Mb
Deluge issue or Windows issue
Now this is going to bewilder a few of you.
2 days ago PC2 had no problem
PC2 was running deluge with 677 torrents with NO issues.
Pagefile then was set at the default (386MB) if my memory serves me correctly. What seemed to change all that was that my C drive was down to 400-500 Mb available space
No issue at this point with deluge. What happened next was that I archived off 3-4 GB of data. Then the problem seemed to kick in from there. Pagefile was still set at 386Mb
but running deluge became a problem with virtual memory just growing wildly seeding 650 + torrents with Deluge crashing out with the C++ error
I changed the pagefile to aroung 4GB. The only difference now is that the virtual memory just grows a bit slower than wildly but will still crash eventually.
I have cut down my torrents loaded but the problem is still there.
Just reloaded Deluge and PAUSED ALL TORRENTS. Virtual @ 286MB CPU 19-25% Virtual memory after 2 mins @ 450Mb. Why is Pageing file gowing with all torrents paused?
Is there any EXPERT out there who can explain away this phenomena. The 2 PC's are identical with Hardware, OS, Deluge 1.3.6 running, Pagefile settings exactly the same.
The problem seems to to be the Pagefile with virtual memory stable in PC1 but out of control in PC2
Thanks in advance of any input & comments.

The GTK version for windows has a small memory leak when redrawing the gui. It could just be a matter of how active the screen is.

I am experiencing the same kind of problems. I am seeding 375 torrents and the memory usage is slowing growing 'till there is nothing left.
