linux + Deluge + Magnet files + Proxy

Post by flsocialist »

Please bare with me:

I'm running Deluge on Ubuntu 13.04
I have a btguard.com account for a socks5 proxy

I can run a regular torrent with no problem.
I can run a magnet link if the proxy is turned off
I can run a torrent with the proxy on
But I can't run a magnet link with the proxy set up.

This is not just on one system, I've tried it on three different set ups.
This problem exist with VUZE too

So I'm pretty sure it's a linux issue, but I can't for the sake of me figure out what could be causing just the magnets not to work when the proxy is set up.

I'm open to suggestions if anyone has got them.

If this is off topic then I apologize and feel free to delete. I posted it here as I want to use Deluge but can't get past this problem

Hello - What to do

"Preferences" inthe "Other"-Tab there is a button to associate Magnet-Links with Deluge

But i would suggest this:
Right-click the magnet-link in your browser, I use Firefox..
Select "Copy Link-Address" from from the right-click menu.
Then go to Your Deluge running, I use Deluge-GTK..
Inside Deluge open Menu-Item "Add Torrent"
Choose "InternetAddress" - Paste your copied linkaddress(magnetlink) with "CTRL-V"
Press "OK-Button" Press ADD-Button
Check Deluge Main window..

Did that help You?

It's not an issue with downloading magnet links, I can do that. I just can't download them with a proxy set up. I've been told it libtorrent shipped with deluge and that it will, at some point, be fixed. Until then, I'll just use a windows box for torrents

Thanks for the help
