Delete copy of torrent file on remove to Recycle Bin

Post by Shaipetit »

If Edit - Preferences - Delete copy of torrent file on remove is checked

Deluge deletes .torrent files completely instead of sending .torrent files to Recycle Bin.

I think it's a bad behavior that leads users to losing their .torrent files from time to time, like in this case:

For instance, uTorrent and Vuze deletes .torrent files by sending .torrent files to Recycle Bin, so those files could be recovered if needed.

Also, Deluge torrent remove dialog could be made a little bit more feature rich, something like this:

Or like this:

Layout like the ones above clearly inform the user and lets user to choose what actually will be deleted:
only torrent from the client, torrent data itself, .torrent file etc.

Any chance of getting this implemented?

Thank you.

Sure but the user must have checked that 'deluge copy of torrent' option in the first place (so all bets are off), however the issue you linked to is not to do with 'copy of' torrents and rather those stored in config. Using Send2Trash might be an option for the future.

Develop code has improved the dialog: http://dev.deluge-torrent.org/ticket/1859

Yes, Send2Trash both for .torrent files and for torrent data (content) is superior when compared with full delete without any undo.

Send2Trash gives an extra layer of protection from unintentional data loss.

Should I open a ticket under Deluge bug tracker for Send2Trash feature request?
