Please Help Me Understand How Deluge Handles Packages Forwarded by Proxy?

Post by heraclitus »

I am planning to move from Transmission to Deluge because Deluge has better proxy support. I've got some questions about how Deluges works with the proxies:
Normally I will open a port on the router and map it to the torrent client to allow initial incoming contact. If I config Deluge to use a socks proxy, will I lose that advantage? I guess probably yes, but I am not sure.
If I setup the Deluge (on machine A) to use the socks proxy (on remote machine B), and in the mean time I map a remote port of B back to local A (using tools similar to ssh -R) for Deluge to listen, then:
1) How will Deluge handles packages from different sources?
2) Will the remote port of B work?
3) Will Deluge announce its local listening port number to other peers? Or does other peers get that info from IP source (in that case probably the IP and port of remote B)?
4) Say if another peer initials the contact using the remote port of B, will Deluge reply to it via the proxy, or via the tunnel?
Thank you.
