Re: libtorrent 1.1.0 and deluge 1.3.12

Post by Cas »

It is exactly as shryp said, 1.3.13 will one more bugfix release i.e. not adding support for lt 1.1 as the changes required are not trivial. Some users report libtorrent 1.1.0 is working with deluge 1.3 but there are many removed methods for libtorrent settings that upon changing them in deluge will either do nothing or result in crashing, so I wouldn't use it.

The next release of libtorrent 1.1.1 should fix the compatibility with Deluge 1.3. So libtorrent 1.1.0 could be patched with relevant fixes in meantime.

latest deluge(1.3.13) and libtorrent(1.1) does run and work on my fully updated arch-linux system too, but according to Cas it's just not fully compliant though, as some deluge settings isn't respected anymore by latest libtorrent, hence the 1.0.9 recommendation until either deluge(v2) or libtorrent(v1.1.1), or both, is updated to interact fully together again.

Agreed, it also works fine for me for the few settings I have changed and with full speed, so I also use it, since it's the only libtorrent currently in the official repo of my dist. I used to use the recommended 1.0.9 and blacklisted libtorrent updates for the time being, but after testing that it works for me also with lt-1.1, then there where really no reason to not just use the provided version of my dist I thought, atleast until running into trouble with something.

@Cas, polite bump of previous question :) Does it to you sound like the incompatibilities should be fixed from the posted changelog of libtorrent v1.1.1?

With libtorrent v1.1.1, everything isn't 100% perfect atleast, since when using the ltconfig plugin to enable the option 'announce_to_all_trackers', then it only works for torrents and not magnets. It works on qbittorrent, i.e. announces sent to all trackers on magnets also, so it seems to be an issue with the python bindings vs the C++ ones.
