Downloading stops randomly

Post by MrPez »

I've been having trouble with downloading. When I open deluge the torrents generally start fine, I get up to around 2.5Mbps speed and then for some reason they drop to zero and don't start again. Rechecking data doesn't work either and all I can do is restart the program and go through the process again.
This has only been happening for about 8 weeks, before that it was fine. I don't know of anything that has changed in that time.
I thought it was the VPN I use (TORGuard) but I just had the same result without the VPN connected, so thats not it.
I'm using Mint 17 with the latest version of Deluge - 1.3.6 and libtorrent 0.16.13.0.
Any ideas what could be the problem? I've tried limiting connections and speed but doesn't seem to have any effect.

Ok, answering my own question here cos after 2 months I've narrowed it down.
My problem was a wifi issue. I was downloading to a folder on a network drive and while deluge seems to be able to cope with internet disconnects, it doesn't seem to like losing connection to the files and folders it is downloading to.
So I changed to download to a local folder and haven't had any problems since.
Haven't fixed the problem, but at least this is a usable workaround.
