Autoadd 'ascii' codec can't decode byte 0xc3

I'm running a headless server with version 1.3.5. of deluge.

When I try and add larger files they remain "Checking 0.0%" and I get the following error in my logs:

autoadd:80 Unable to auto add torrent due to improper filename encoding: 'ascii' codec can't decode byte 0xc3 in position 12: ordinal not in range(128)

The position, and range numbers change.

I read it may be due to the language of the OS, but I've edited it to no avail. I'd really appreciate any help I can get with this, it's driving me crazy.

Yeah I did but although my daemon is running as a service, I don't have a /etc/init/deluge.conf.

That is a init script not a cron job, just add "export LANG='en_US.UTF-8'" to you script before PATH.

Thanks, unfortunately that doesn't appear to have had any effect after restarting the service.

Thanks for that. I'm no longer getting the ascii messages in the error log, but now all autoadded torrents are 'Error'ing with a message of permission denied on my working folder which has 777 permissions and the same user and group as the service uses to access the other folders.

I haven't had a permissions problem before with deluge and haven't changed permissions settings, so I'm stumped.

I've moved the code to that line but it has the same effect.
The permissions on that folder haven't changed, but it's as if deluge thinks they have. I can't see any reason it'd be having permissions issues.
