installation on jaunty

Post by t0m5k1 »

EDIT

don't worry i have found another solution

use a different application!

ok so i got a headless server setup it is running jaunty
my desktop machine(client) runs karmic

i need the client on desktop to be the same as on server so the two will marry up & my son can use the gui as normal
i have shared folders setup which mount auto magically upon login so my son thinks it's all on the desktop when infact it is all on the server

i am not going to re-configure my system to get this to work

now my problem is how the BLEEP do i set up the PPA repo on my jaunty headless server?

all i see on the web is karmic karmic karmic!!!!!!!

on your ppa site the example it gives is for AWN????????????? & all numbers etc are bogus 12345678

all this has totally confused me

please help

yes but i am still in the same position!

HOW DO I ADD THE KEY!!!
the instruction's are an example based on awn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
to me what is there is worse than a flat pack from ikea
i have never added a 'key' to apt!
i only have command line access NO GUI
hence why i was asking for help, i'm sure other out there have faced this problem

there is no guidance on this, which when thought of really should be not every linux user is an advanced users & more & more EX window's user's are coming across so with that in mind what do they do? continue to use utorrent in wine considering they supply a truck load of information on running their application or is your target audience advanced users only? in which case why don't you supply just the source code

I have changed application to one that supplies this kind of information & provides what i need

I don't see how you have trouble installing software from a PPA has anything to do with deluge.
The PPA is unofficial and the installation instructions are written by launchpad which deluge-team have no control over.
Furthermore, it should be pretty obvious what changes are needed to the instructions to make it work.

However, in case anybody else is stuck:
  1. Edit /etc/apt/sources.list as root with your favourite editor and add:

    Code: Select all

    deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/deluge-team/ppa/ubuntu jaunty main
    deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/deluge-team/ppa/ubuntu jaunty main
  2. Code: Select all

    sudo apt-key adv --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv-keys 249AD24C
  3. Code: Select all

    sudo apt-get update
