0.5.3 Speed Problems

Post by markybob »

If you're having speed problems, please set your maximum upload slot preference. For the average cable modem, 10 might be a good number to try. Also, try setting the maximum upload speed to 30 or 40.

For me it's pretty bad; I've been downloading this torrent for a while (30GB) so I know what speeds I normally get. On bittornado after running just a few minutes I normally get over 100kb/s (my max is about ~700kb/s) but on deluge it rarely goes past 25-30kb/s. I even tried each client right after each other to make sure it's not the torrent and also multiple times and let each run for around 5-10 minutes. Used same upload settings and encryption, still can't get it to fly. For encryption on deluge I've been using Enabled on in/out and Level either and full stream encryption disabled.

which port are you using? what does deluge show as active port?

10,000 - 60,000 for both deluge and bittornado. Deluge shows 10,000 as active port. I'm going to try to disable DHT, PEX, NAT-PMP (bittornado doesn't have those features).

how long do you wait before quiting one program and opening another? most people dont accept multiple connections from the same ip, so if you connect with bittornado, then switch over to deluge, a lot of peers will reject you
