Post by legolas »

Hi
thank you for reading my post
What will happen if i enable all network extras?
I do not know whether i need some of them or not, so my question is that if i do not need uPnP and i mark it as enabled, will it cause any problem for downloading torrent files?

thanks

As far as UPnP is concerned, that is to do with some of the newer routers/modems or routers+modems which have this feature . An overview of UPnP http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UPnP would make for better understanding. NAT-PMP is generally used by NAT based routers. (Originally a macintosh protocol draft and later implementation in many of its softwares) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NAT-PMP gives an overview. About peer exchange you can find more info. at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peer_exchange . All of them are good if you are on sites which are not private, meaning no ratio issues or you have good bandwidth & wanna share. If you don't have a UPnP router it doesn't effect. dunno about NAT-PMP but don't think so either (haven't tried hence can't say) . Also I would advise you to look at the talk page, esp. of Peer-exchange so you aren't biased about stuff.
