Reset webui password

Post by FVGAZI »

I've tried resetting via the instructions given in the f.a.q. to no avail.
I have searched all over the web, but all I seem to find are answers for a linux setup.
I am completely stumped!
Please advise...

Deleting the pwd_sha1 line in the web.config file.
Deleting the entire web.config file(after backing it up).
Searching google till it started to make me think I was 1 of 10 people in the entire world that actually use deluge on windows lol...
It's not a big deal anymore for me. I was able to locate the password in my LastPass history.
It might be helpful to somebody in the future I would imagine.
Maybe update the f.a.q. to include a working method or one specific to windows?

Are you sure you stopped Deluge before making any changes to web.conf?

Absolutely.
I actually did this several times.
Stopped deluged and delugeweb.
Restarted. Rebooted.

The only other possible explanation is your changes made the conf file unreadable so it used the backup copy

The backup copy I made?
Is there another location that contains a web.config file?
I'm not sure what you mean.
I literally followed the directions in the f.a.q. "How can I reset forgotten password?" word for word.

Depending on the file editor you used newline differences on Windows could cause the issue. Every conf file has a backup version created when it is updated. If the original fails to load it will use that backup. Since web.conf (and it's backup file) are the only places that the password exists there are no other alternatives so the instructions still work on Windows.

Edit: Unless you are editing the wrong config location...

User/AppData/Roaming/deluge/web.conf
Is this correct?
If so, I believe I followed the directions correctly to no avail.
